Liposomal Vitamin C
Liposomal Vitamin C is a uniquely highly bioavailable form of this essential antioxidant. Vitamin C is known to protect against oxidative damage, support healthy immune function, and play an essential role in collagen synthesis. Vitamin C is a cofactor for prolyl and lysyl hydroxylases, enzymes needed for collagen development in joints and bones. A higher intake of vitamin C has been associated with a reduced risk for osteoporotic fracture and an increase in bone mineral density. Vitamin C increases iron absorption, stabilizes vitamin E and folic acid, and attenuates inflammation. A greater risk for deficiency has been identified in a number of populations, including older adults, individuals with inflammatory bowel disease, cancer, or food allergies, and tobacco smokers.
Vitamin C supplementation enhances immune function and is associated with a shorter duration of respiratory tract infections, such as the common cold. There are many functions for this important antioxidant, including it has also been associated with improved liver function and glycemic control in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
