The Process
Assessment
Your visit will include a verbal overview of your health history, along with a chat about what your primary goals are for treatment. During this time, you will go over some assessments with your Massage Therapist, used to guide treatment in an effective manner. This generally takes between 5-10 minutes, depending on the complexity of your health history, and if any ongoing injuries are present.
Initial visit
Following your intake interview and assessment, is treatment time! This involves hands-on manual therapy, either skin-to-skin or over your clothing if that is more comfortable for you. Treatment is tailored to your comfort level, so at any point, you’re invited to request a change in area, pressure, draping, or to discontinue treatment if you’re uncomfortable. We invite you to let us know your preferences so your treatment is customized to exactly what will support you. Your Massage Therapist will ensure they go over all information pertaining to treatment prior to stepping out of the treatment room to give you privacy to undress to your level of comfort.
next steps
Nearing the end of your visit, your Massage Therapist will leave the room and instruct you to re-dress. Generally there will be a bit of time left to go over all necessary reassessments, and send you home with a tiny bit of optional homework in the form of either a stretch, strengthening exercise, or adjustments to your daily movements to help maintain improvements achieved during treatment, or to supplement your recovery and overall wellness. Sometimes you’ll be lucky enough to sneak out without homework, but as massage tends to be most effective long-term when paired with active rehabilitation, please expect to have a trick or two sent home with you. We care deeply about your wellness and recovery, and though we know the thought of homework can be a bore, it’s our way of making sure you’re taken care of even if you can’t see us every week!
